Chrono Cross Fellowship Guile

Description

I am feeling AMBITIOUS! XD  I plan to create character profiles for all the appearing Chrono Cross characters in Fellowship. Two down, and there are still at least fifteen to go. The update may not be as frequent as the fanfic though.

The concept of Guile in Fellowship. This is his initial design because he will undergo a few changes. Note that some of these will be explored in later updates of Fellowship... And Guile isn't Chrono Trigger Magus here, but he'll have his own back story.

Personality:
Guile is a soft-spoken and kind-hearted magician. Because of his kindness, he sometimes does poorly in combat. When it comes to fighting against the innocents or kids or someone who has ever helped him, Guile tends to hold back. Also, he usually tries to persuade a good-turned-evil foe to return to the good side instead of fighting him/her. His kindness often lets him make friends more easily, but it doesn't always bring good things for him. Some people like to take advantage of his generosity because he doesn't really mind if one treats him like a trash. Guile also possesses fatherly nature, which makes him extremely protective of the children he has befriended, especially Draggy and Pip. Hurting any of them is an easy way to set him off. And no matter what, Guile will never let a child risk his/her life for him.
Being very kind, Guile is a softie in his heart. He is prone to shedding tears, especially when he is feeling nostalgic or sees his little friends crying or suffering. And he also likes it when someone shows genuine care and kindness to him (which always results in tears of joy from him and sometimes bumbling reactions). In addition, Guile retains a child's innocence. He still believes that falling stars exist, and is eager to make a wish if he sees one. Guile is also oblivious to love and has the tendency to react awkwardly when one questions about his love life.
As nice as Guile is, his anger is dangerous. When one threatens and/or harms his little friends, he will snap and become ruthless. His power rises to absurd levels when furious, but because he just cares about killing the foe and doesn't mind about tactics anymore, it often causes problems. On occasion, his uncontrollable rage ends up frightening and even injuring his friends (or sometimes outside battle impact, such as a mild tremor at West Shinjuku which leads to the limited amount of bus services afterwards).
Giving up is not Guile's nature, especially when it is about taking care of his little friends. Even if he's seriously injured, he won't stay down until his friends are safe. And because he never retreats from a fight, his back is always unscathed (unless there are sharp objects going clean through his front side, someone attacked him from behind, or getting knocked away to a wall) after a battle, although his front side is already mangled. And if one mentions that he's dying because of his serious injuries, he'll stubbornly refuse to accept that he'll die.

In Combat:
Guile is a tank with super strength and an arsenal of destructive spells. His weaknesses are dexterity (especially in close combat) and casting speed.
Knowing no defensive spells and lacking of defensive skills, Guile relies heavily on his inborn stamina and sheer determination for his defense. His durability alone allows him to take a huge amount of punishment before collapsing. Often, his fortitude lets him rise again to fight back until he wins or his body is too worn out to continue fighting. Also, this ability allows him to keep attacking without having to waste time for defending.
Guile uses his magic skills when long-ranged combat is possible. He usually casts quick but weak spells to slow down the foe. When he sees a chance, he will cast slower but stronger spells. If he manages to cast it and hit the foe with it, the fight is likely to have ended.
When his foe engages him in melee combat, he'll fight back with his rod. After losing his rod, he counters with fists. He lacks the dexterity in hand-to-hand combat because of being unskilled and inexperienced in fisticuffs, but his unorthodox punches are unpredictable and with some luck, he can overwhelm the foe. They also hurt if they hit, especially if he slips a Tremor Fist or a Phoenix Eye Fist in his blows (see Signature Moves).
When Guile is enraged, he only aims for the kill. He will either savagely beat up his foe, cast painfully slow but destructive spells, or both. Nothing can stop him when he is enraged, unless the foe is smart enough to exploit his lack of tactics.

Passive Abilities:
Pacifist: Guile naturally dislikes fighting, especially if it is against children. This affects his offensive capabilities, and is worse when he fights against the innocents.
Fury: This is when Guile throws away his kindness which has been keeping his monstrous power at bay. When the people he cares for are threatened and/or hurt, Guile will enter this state and wreak havoc.
Grit: This allows Guile to ignore the pain from his injuries and fight (again) until he wins or his body gives out.
Flight: Guile is naturally able to fly. A gift from Phoenix when his past self was de-aged.
Regeneration: When at rest, Guile can recover faster from his injuries. A gift from Phoenix when his past self was de-aged.

Signature Moves:
Lightning Rod: Guile summons black clouds to fire dark lightning bolts at his rod. Then he swings his charged rod to unleash a streaming thunderbolt. After losing his rod, he can never use this anymore.
Lightning Blast: Guile charges up before unleashing a massive blast of lightning from his hands. Because this spell takes a long time to cast and leaves him defenseless as well, the foe can easily interrupt and injure Guile.
Tremor Fist: Guile strikes the foe with a fist that is usually used for casting earth spells (exactly earthquakes and ground-breaking magic). He learns this when he tries to smash a solid object without taking too much time, though he first ends up tearing the ligament of his elbow because of his wrong punching technique. This move, as noted by Chikara, is extremely devastating. It has two possibilities when it hits an enemy: the foe instantly dies or is paralyzed due to broken bones. If a foe barely dodges it, the invisible shockwaves it generates can still be dangerous.
Phoenix Eye Fist: Guile punches his foe's pressure points with only the knuckle of his index finger. He learns this after reading his master's kung fu manual due to his interest with the word 'phoenix'.
Black Inferno: Guile assumes the stance of a bird spreading its wings and charges up, before shooting a black eagle-shaped gush of fire from his hands. He learns this after fully understanding about his origin.
